Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai Defends GST, Civic Criticism
Mohandas Pai, former Infosys CFO, has responded to Mansoor Khan's social media post criticising GST policies and tax distribution. Pai, a native of Karnataka, also addressed the state's perceived raw deal under the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions.
Pai questioned Khan's criticism, stating that GST decisions are made jointly by the Center and all states, including Karnataka. He suggested that the state could have played a role in shaping the GST policy, rather than merely accepting it.
Pai also defended Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw's criticism of Bengaluru's civic issues, asserting that it's not selective. He argued that Shaw, like other concerned citizens, has the right to highlight problems in their city, regardless of political affiliations.
Pai's response highlights the shared responsibility of states in GST policy decisions and the importance of constructive criticism in addressing civic issues. His comments add perspective to the ongoing dialogue on GST and urban governance.
