Innovative Employee Benefits: In-Office Hairdressing Station by Snocks
Mannheim-based startup Snocks has introduced a new perk for its staff: free haircuts at work. The company, founded in 2016 by Johannes Kliesch, aims to boost both morale and efficiency with this unusual benefit. Employees now receive on-site barber services every two weeks, cutting down on personal errands and saving time.
Snocks began as a sock retailer but has since expanded its business. Recently, it acquired the insolvent fashion brand Oceansapart and purchased Femtis, a manufacturer of period underwear. These moves highlight the company’s push for sustainable growth and broader market reach.
The idea for workplace haircuts came from Kliesch himself. He believes that small conveniences can make a big difference in daily work life. Irina Ferreira Guimarães, Head of People and Culture at Snocks, agrees, calling the service a meaningful employee benefit rather than just a gimmick. By offering haircuts on-site, the company hopes to streamline routines for its team. The initiative also reflects Snocks’ broader approach to workplace culture—prioritising practical support over traditional perks.
The barber service is now a regular feature at Snocks, running every fortnight. Employees gain extra time, while the company reinforces its focus on staff well-being. With recent acquisitions and innovative perks, Snocks continues to position itself as a forward-thinking player in the retail sector.
