Irritant Gas Attack on BVG Bus in Berlin: 6 Injured, 2 Suspects Identified
A 13-year-old girl and a 46-year-old bus driver were among six people affected by an irritant gas attack on a BVG bus in Altglienicke. The incident occurred around 2 pm at the bus stop Ortolfstraße/Anne-Frank-Straße, as the bus was heading towards Adlershof on line 260.
Two juveniles, aged 14 and 16, are suspected of spraying the irritant gas on the bus. The investigation is being handled by the state protection unit of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office. A specialized commission of the Police Directorate 3 (East) is also involved. The suspects' names and addresses have been identified.
The 32-year-old woman and her seven-month-old baby, along with the 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old son, were treated on-site or taken to hospital for outpatient care. The bus driver and the 13-year-old girl initially declined treatment but the driver ended her shift early. The police are examining a claim of responsibility posted on a left-wing extremist website.
The incident has left six people with respiratory irritation. The investigation is ongoing, with the police working to determine the motive behind the attack.
