Isle of Man women entrepreneurs invited to join Santander's mentoring push
A mentoring scheme for female entrepreneurs is now accepting applications from the Isle of Man. The Santander Women Business Leaders' (WBL) programme, running from April to November, aims to support 100 new mentees across the UK, Jersey, and the island.
Local business owner Ruth Cooil, who took part last year, described the initiative as a key source of guidance for growth. The programme has helped nearly 1,200 female founders and business owners since its launch in 2019. Open to women who have traded for at least 18 months, it pairs them with experienced mentors for tailored support. Sessions take place remotely, ensuring matches are based on skills and needs rather than location.
Santander partners with Moving Ahead, a specialist mentoring organisation, to deliver the scheme. Beyond one-to-one mentoring, participants gain access to virtual workshops on finance, marketing, digital skills, and sustainability. The bank also encourages applications from potential mentors—regardless of gender—provided they have relevant corporate or small-business experience.
Applications close on March 9. Businesses must meet the programme's criteria and be willing to become Santander customers to take part. The initiative has expanded steadily over seven years, offering both mentorship and practical training. This year's cohort will join a network of entrepreneurs who have used the programme to address challenges and scale their businesses. The deadline for submissions is fast approaching.
