Jaipur’s Shiv Mandir faces demolition threat over 1.59m boundary dispute

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has sent an encroachment notice to Shiv Mandir in Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur. The move has sparked anger among residents, who argue the temple was constructed by the JDA itself years ago. Social media campaigns with hashtags like #SaveShivMandir have since gained traction.

The notice claims the temple’s boundary wall extends 1.59 metres into the proposed road line, classifying it as an encroachment. Under JDA rules, failure to respond within seven days could lead to enforcement action. The notice was addressed directly to the temple, not to any management body, further frustrating locals.

The dispute centres on whether the temple qualifies as an encroachment or a legitimate structure. Without a response within the deadline, the JDA may proceed with enforcement. Meanwhile, public opposition continues to grow online and within the community.
