Jalan Bukit Bintang to close twice for *I Lite U* Festival 2026 lighting events

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced road closures for the I Lite U Festival 2026 Lighting Programme. Jalan Bukit Bintang will shut twice in early January—once for a rehearsal and again for the official launch. Both events will block traffic along a key stretch of the popular street.

The first closure takes place on January 1, 2026, for a trial run of the festival’s lighting display. From 6:00 PM to midnight, the entire road between Pavilion and the Federal Hotel will be off-limits to vehicles. DBKL is overseeing the shutdown to ensure smooth preparations.

Two days later, on January 3, 2026, the same section of Jalan Bukit Bintang will close again for the festival’s official launch. This time, the road will be shut from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM, with no access permitted between the same two landmarks. Authorities have confirmed that DBKL will manage all closures, including traffic diversions and public notices. The affected area remains one of the city’s busiest, so drivers and pedestrians are advised to plan alternative routes in advance.

The closures mark a temporary disruption for one of Kuala Lumpur’s most frequented streets. With both the rehearsal and launch spanning several hours, DBKL’s coordination aims to minimise inconvenience while ensuring the festival’s lighting programme proceeds as scheduled. Updates on alternative routes will be provided closer to the dates.
