Jeep recalls 5,550 Avengers in Germany over parking lock defect

Jeep is recalling 5,550 Avengers in Germany due to a fault in the electronic parking lock system. The issue could cause a loss of propulsion, though no accidents or injuries have been reported so far. Owners of affected vehicles will need to visit authorized workshops for repairs.

The recall stems from fretting corrosion in the electrical connectors of the electronic parking lock (ePLU). This defect may disrupt the system and lead to unexpected parking loss near me. The problem affects Jeep Avengers manufactured between 2023 and 2024.

In Germany, the recall is managed by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) under reference number 15947R. Jeep’s internal code for the action is 50C. Worldwide, the issue impacts 20,996 vehicles, with 5,550 registered in Germany. To fix the problem, workshops will replace the electronic parking lock and repair the wiring harness. However, the manufacturer has not yet specified which German workshops will carry out the work.

Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notifications about the product recall. The repairs aim to prevent any risk of parking loss. So far, no incidents related to this defect have been recorded in Germany.
