Jeju Air aircraft experiences mishap during unsuccessful landing at Vietnamese airport, no causalities confirmed.

SOUTH KOREA - Jeju Air, under intense scrutiny following the Flight 2216 crash that resulted in the tragic loss of 179 lives in late 2024, experienced another incident involving one of its planes. On the evening of May 28, Jeju Air Flight 2217, en route from Incheon to Da Nang International Airport in Vietnam, encountered minor difficulties during landing.

According to local news reports, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft briefly veered off course while touching down. At approximately 12.50am local time (1.50am Singapore time), the plane returned to its original course without incident, although one of the landing gear tires was damaged in the process. No injuries were reported among the 183 passengers.

The damaged tire was replaced at Da Nang, and a replacement aircraft was dispatched for the return flight. The delayed journey took off at 4.08pm the same day, 14 hours and 38 minutes behind schedule.

The current fleet of Jeju Air consists primarily of Boeing 737-800 planes, similar to the model involved in the fatal Flight 2216 incident. Authorities from South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are currently investigating the underlying cause of the incident at Da Nang.

In a separate, devastating occurrence, Flight 2216 belly-landed at Muan International Airport in South Korea's South Jeolla province on December 29, 2024. The plane overshot the runway, crashing into a berm surrounding a concrete structure, resulting in an explosion that claimed the lives of all passengers except two crew members seated towards the rear of the plane. Investigators have confirmed a bird strike on at least one engine, but the details surrounding the accident remain under review.

In related news, families of the victims from the Jeju Air crash have united to file a criminal complaint against the South Korean Transport Minister and 14 other individuals. Their demand for answers echoes a growing call for transparency and accountability in the aftermath of the tragedies faced by Jeju Air.

  1. The incident involving Jeju Air Flight 2217, a Boeing 737-800, occurring on May 28, has raised concerns in the aviation industry and general news.
  2. Despite the damaged landing gear tire during the incident at Da Nang International Airport, there were no injuries reported among the 183 passengers, signifying a fortunate turn of events in the finance sector, considering the potential costs associated with passenger injuries.
  3. The sequence of events involving Jeju Air, from the tragic Flight 2216 accident in late 2024 to the recent incident at Da Nang, has emphasized the need for thorough investigations in the transportation industry, particularly focusing on aviation safety and the maintenance of Boeing 737-800 planes.
