Jharkhand bans candidates with more than two children from urban elections
Jharkhand has introduced new rules for its upcoming urban body elections. Candidates with more than two children will now be barred from running. The restriction targets those whose last child was born after February 9, 2013.
The state government has set strict eligibility criteria for aspiring candidates. Each must submit an affidavit confirming they have no more than two children. Providing false details could lead to their nomination being cancelled.
The new rules aim to regulate candidate eligibility and reservation distribution. After final approvals, the system will be put into practice for the upcoming elections. Officials will verify all affidavits and reservation allocations before the voting process begins.
