Jim Carter named interim National Armaments Director amid defense reforms
Jim Carter has taken over as the new interim National Armaments Director (NAD). His appointment follows Luke Pollard’s replacement of Rupert Pearce in November 2024. The move comes as the NAD Group pushes forward with major defense reforms and industrial strategy updates.
The NAD Group employs around 27,000 people across defense capability design, development, and delivery. Carter will now lead a team of over 2,500 commercial specialists within this organization. He will also serve as the Champion for Small and Medium Enterprises, aiming to boost engagement with smaller suppliers.
Carter’s leadership comes at a critical moment for the NAD Group. His focus on faster development cycles and closer industry collaboration will shape the next phase of defense modernization. The group’s commercial and industrial operations are now under his direction as reforms progress.
