New U.S. Consul General in the Southeast - Jodi Breisler Begins Tenure as U.S. Consul General in Leipzig
Jodi Breisler has taken up her post as the new U.S. Consul General in Leipzig. She succeeds John R. Crosby, who held the role until mid-October. Breisler brings nearly 15 years of diplomatic experience to Central Germany and has expressed enthusiasm for deepening ties between the U.S. and the region.
The U.S. Consulate General in Leipzig, one of five American consulates in Germany, has operated for nearly two centuries. Its work covers Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia, focusing on visa and passport services as well as partnerships in trade, culture, and education.
Breisler’s arrival marks a new chapter for U.S. engagement in Central Germany. The consulate will continue its work in visa processing, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation across the three states. Her diplomatic and journalistic experience is expected to shape her approach in the role.
