Johann Wadephul Takes Helm as Germany’s New Foreign Affairs Minister
Johann Wadephul, a prominent German politico, has been appointed as the Minister of the German Federal Foreign Office. With a diverse background in management, marketing, and politics, Wadephul brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Wadephul's political career spans over two decades. He began as an employee in management at Gast Service AG from 1997 to 2000. Later, he worked in press and public relations at Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann from 2000 to 2002. Between 2002 and 2003, Wadephul studied to become a marketing specialist for electronics at the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing in Munich.
From 2003 to 2009, he served as the deputy head of politics and party affairs for the Christian Social Union in Bavaria. Wadephul's political ascent continued as he became a member of the German Bundestag in 2009. He held various spokesman roles, including defense policy spokesman from 2021 to 2025 and spokesman for foreign affairs and defense from 2014 to 2018. Additionally, he lectured at the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing from 2012 to 2015.
