Dumelo urges youth to embrace agriculture, entrepreneurial skills at VYE forum

John Dumelo, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, has encouraged young people in the Volta Region to take advantage of the vast opportunities in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

A recent forum in the Volta Region has highlighted the need for young Ghanaians to embrace entrepreneurial skills and agriculture. The event, organised to support youth-led small business ideas, brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, traditional leaders, and government officials. Speakers stressed that these sectors could reduce the country’s reliance on imports while creating jobs.

The Volta Youth Entrepreneurs Forum served as a platform for training, mentorship, and business guidance. Mrs Elsie Appau-Klu, Technical Advisor to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), described it as an innovative way to equip young entrepreneurs with essential skills. The forum included young CEOs, legal experts, and traditional leaders like Mama Bobi III, Queen of Bake and Afetornyornufia of Ho-Bankoe.

The forum highlighted the potential of youth-led entrepreneurship and agriculture to boost Ghana’s economy. Tax incentives and mentorship programmes aim to make business ownership more accessible. Officials hope these efforts will encourage more young people to build my business and reduce the country’s dependence on imported goods.
