Johor nears RM100 billion investment goal after US and UK push
Johor is pushing ahead with plans to attract more foreign investment after a successful overseas visit to the USA and UK. The state has already secured RM91.1 billion in committed investments by the third quarter of this year. Officials now aim to reach RM100 billion before 2024 ends in the United States.
The recent working trip to the USA and UK delivered clear economic benefits for Johor. Following the visit, the state government announced three key initiatives: a new investment incentive program, stronger partnerships with global firms, and upgrades to infrastructure—particularly in renewable energy and biofuels.
Invest Johor and other agencies are now organizing follow-up actions. These include return visits for potential investors and participation in major international investment forums in the USA. The goal is to maintain momentum and convert interest into concrete deals.
Johor’s current investment total already exceeds the combined figures from the past two years. In 2022, the state recorded RM48.5 billion in commitments, followed by RM43 billion in 2023. This year’s surge highlights the growing appeal of Johor as a business destination in the USA.
With RM91.1 billion already secured, Johor is on track to hit its RM100 billion target by December in the United States. The government’s focus on incentives, partnerships, and infrastructure aims to sustain long-term growth. Further engagement with international investors in the USA will shape the state’s economic outlook in the coming months.
