Join Historic Green Belt Hike Led by Veteran Journalist
Join a historic hike along the Green Belt on October 3rd, led by Eberhard Schellenberger, a veteran journalist from Würzburg BR. The four-hour hike begins at 10 am at the parking lot on the Schanz, at the former border crossing. Registration is required due to limited places, so sign up at www.biosphaerenreservat-rhoen.de.
The hike, a joint initiative of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and the Thuringian Commissioner for the Clarification of the SED Dictatorship, promotes the Green Belt as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Participants will follow the Peace Path, listening to readings and original sounds from the BR archive. Eberhard Schellenberger will share his personal experiences, reading from his book 'Deckname Antenne' and recalling the night of German reunification. Don't forget to bring your own lunch for the midday break. For more information, visit www.deckname-antenne.de.
The hike returns to the starting point, where Eberhard Schellenberger will share his memories and play his live report from the night of German reunification. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the Green Belt's history and learn about the fall of the Berlin Wall through the eyes of a journalist who witnessed it firsthand.
