Judge Restores Voting Rights to Hunterdon County Residents Ahead of Election

A Superior Court Judge has granted voting rights to several Hunterdon County residents who initially faced disenfranchisement. The decision ensures they can participate in the upcoming election. Among those allowed to vote are a husband and wife who moved back to New Jersey after living in Florida. Another individual, a New Jersey native who had resided in Colorado for nearly five years, was also granted the right to vote at his new Hunterdon County residence. An 84-year-old man, who moved to Hunterdon County just two days after the voter registration deadline, was permitted to vote due to extenuating circumstances. Judge Patrick Heller considered his long-standing residency in New Jersey and his intention to remain in the state. The man's voter registration was not processed due to the oversight of the deadline. Similarly, a woman who moved from Burlington to Somerset in June was also allowed to vote despite the registration deadline oversight. These decisions by Judge Heller have ensured that several Hunterdon County residents, who were initially unable to vote due to registration oversights or recent moves, will now have their voices heard in the upcoming election.
