Jürgen Damm Honored for Preserving Marburg’s Rich History and Community Legacy
Jürgen Damm, a dedicated historian and local politician, has been honoured with the Historic City Seal of Marburg. Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies presented the award to Damm in a ceremony at the historic town hall, recognising his significant contributions to preserving and sharing the history of Michelbach.
Damm's commitment to documenting Michelbach's past has resulted in two notable publications: 'City Script No. 107' and 'Michelbach: A Marburg District Reflects on 1,200 Years of History'. His work serves as a valuable resource for scholars, local associations, and residents alike, shaping the district's future.
Beyond his historical contributions, Damm has been actively involved in local politics. He served on the Michelbach District Council from 2001 to 2021, holding the roles of council secretary from 2001 to 2016 and deputy district chair from 2006 to 2011. His dedication to the community has not gone unnoticed. In 2016, he was previously recognised with the Silver Honor Pin for his civic service.
