Kanagawa Festival in Đà Nẵng strengthens Japan-Vietnam cultural and educational bonds

Kanagawa Prefecture, led by its governor, recently participated in the 4th Kanagawa Festival in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam. The event, held on November 13, 2022, showcased the strong ties between the two regions and promoted cooperation in various fields.

The festival, an annual event jointly organized by Đà Nẵng's municipal People's Committee and Kanagawa prefecture, attracted over 400 local students. It featured activities highlighting Kanagawa and Japanese enterprises, as well as a Japanese-language speech and presentation contest. This year's event marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam, elevating their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The festival also served as a platform to strengthen the existing cooperation between Đà Nẵng and Kanagawa. The two cities, Yokohama and Kawasaki, have signed memorandums of understanding with Đà Nẵng, prioritizing areas like education, IT, engineering, tourism, healthcare, and Japanese language training. The Japanese Consulate in Đà Nẵng supports Vietnamese youths in pursuing study and work opportunities in Japan.

The 4th Kanagawa Festival in Đà Nẵng was a testament to the friendly relationship between the two localities. With over 20 Japanese prefectures and cities, including six with formal friendship ties, Đà Nẵng continues to foster mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and educational cooperation with Japan. The festival, with its focus on Japanese language and culture, is set to continue promoting these ties in the years to come.
