Karlsruhe erupts in violence as street fights lead to arrests and area bans
A series of violent incidents unfolded in central Karlsruhe on Saturday, leading to multiple arrests and area bans. Police intervened in two separate altercations—one involving three men in a street fight, the other a group of youths outside a supermarket. Authorities have since launched criminal proceedings against several individuals.
The first incident began around 3 p.m. in Zanggasse, where three men aged 19 to 27 engaged in a physical confrontation. Officers arrived quickly but found no weapons during an initial search. Later, they discovered a knife hidden on a car tyre nearby. Investigators believe the clash stemmed from territorial disputes among low-level drug dealers. No injuries were reported, but all three men now face charges for theft, coercion, and weapons violations. They have also been banned from the Bleichenviertel district and Kaiserstraße.
The incidents have resulted in multiple area bans and ongoing legal action. Police continue to monitor the affected districts, with restrictions in place for those involved. Authorities have not reported further disturbances since the arrests.
