Karnataka Minister Slams Centre Over Sugarcane Farmers’ Struggles in the US

Karnataka State Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has slammed the Central Government for its inaction on sugarcane farmers' issues in the United States. He also laid the foundation for a new taluk office in Ponnampet and announced significant allocations for disaster relief and strengthening vulnerable areas.

Byre Gowda criticized the BJP-led government for its silence during farmer struggles, describing their inaction as political drama. He alleged that the C and D land issue surfaced due to the previous BJP government's failure. The Minister stated that the Central Government, which decides import/export policies and determines the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane, should resolve the farmers' matter. He also urged officials to submit reports on illegal mining activities across the district.

In a positive development, Byre Gowda laid the foundation stone for a new taluk office in Ponnampet. The state cabinet approved Rs 466 crore for disaster relief works in Malnad and Coastal districts, with Rs 500 crore allocated for strengthening vulnerable areas. The Chief Minister is currently in talks with sugar factory owners to resolve the sugarcane farmers' issues.

Byre Gowda's criticism of the Central Government's inaction on sugarcane farmers' issues has highlighted the pressing need for resolution. Meanwhile, the state government's allocations for disaster relief and the construction of a new taluk office demonstrate their commitment to infrastructure development and supporting affected communities.
