Karnataka’s Congress leadership crisis edges toward a final decision
The Congress party’s Karnataka leadership crisis is nearing a resolution after weeks of uncertainty. Senior leaders, including Mallikarjuna Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, are set to meet in Delhi to decide on the chief minister’s post. Both current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar have signalled their readiness to follow the high command’s decision.
The dispute began after reports suggested a possible leadership change in Karnataka. Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara confirmed he would contest the post if the party sought a new leader. However, he also stated he would accept any final decision from the Congress high command.
The Congress high command is expected to announce its choice for Karnataka’s chief minister in the coming days. Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have pledged to respect the party’s decision. The outcome will determine whether the state sees a leadership change or continues under the current arrangement.
