Kashmir party rejects PoJK’s integration into Pakistan, demands UN intervention
The United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) has reiterated its stance against the integration of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) into Pakistan. Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan, the party's spokesperson, has called for unity among Kashmiris and international intervention to ensure the people's right to freedom.
Khan opposes making PoJK a province of Pakistan or merging it into the country's federal structure. He argues that PoJK and Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan (PoGB) are historically and legally part of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, not constitutional or legal parts of Pakistan. The UKPNP spokesperson accuses Pakistan of invading the state on 22 October 1947, stating that the country has 'no legal authority over the State of Jammu and Kashmir'.
Khan urges the United Nations and the international community to help ensure PoJK's people's right to freedom. He appeals to Kashmiris to stand united against occupation, exploitation, and injustice. The UKPNP spokesperson also stresses that no one has the right to abolish the history, culture, identity, values, or occupy the land and natural resources of PoJK.
The UKPNP's stance aligns with the United Nations' view of Pakistan-Administered Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, not an integral part of Pakistan. The UN continues to call for a resolution in accordance with existing UN Security Council resolutions, without endorsing any unilateral change of status. Most recently, this was reaffirmed during Pakistan’s statement at the UN General Assembly on October 31, 2025, in New York.
