Kazakh and Uzbek Leaders Strengthen Ties at Historic Samarkand Summit

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in Samarkand on 27 June 2023, discussing ways to boost bilateral cooperation and addressing global and regional issues.

The leaders explored avenues to enhance trade, industrial collaboration, transport, energy, agriculture, water resources, and cultural exchanges. They also discussed the future of their strategic partnership and alliance.

The meeting, held under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation (OEC) summit, saw an exchange of views on pressing regional and international matters. Tokayev expressed gratitude for Mirziyoyev's invitation to visit Tashkent and the warm welcome extended.
