Kazakh Doctor Jailed for Selling Fake Military Deferments to Young Men

A doctor from a district clinic in Tselinograd has been sentenced after defrauding three young men. The court found M. guilty of offering fake military service deferments in exchange for large payments. He admitted his actions and showed remorse during the trial. M. approached each victim separately, promising to secure exemptions from military service. For this, he demanded 350,000 tenge from each man. The payments were transferred directly to his bank account.

The promised deferments never materialised. After realising they had been scammed, the three victims reported the incident to law enforcement. Authorities arrested M. shortly afterwards.

During the trial, the doctor confessed to the charges. He was found guilty of repeated fraud through abuse of his official position. As part of the sentencing, M. fully reimbursed the money taken from the victims.

The court handed down a punishment of three years and six months of restricted freedom. In addition, M. received a one-year ban from providing any medical services. M. will serve his sentence under probationary supervision. The ban on medical practice takes effect immediately. The case highlights the consequences of exploiting official roles for personal gain.
