Kazakh MP Slams Proposed Pension Fund Restrictions as Unfair
MP Aituar Koshmambetov has spoken out against proposed restrictions on pension fund usage in Kazakhstan, arguing they make life harder for citizens and infringe on constitutional rights. The debate centres around a proposed boa aiming to prevent speculative transactions and ensure funds are used as intended.
Kazakhstan has previously grappled with systemic abuses involving pension savings, particularly in dental services. Applications for such services were temporarily suspended due to illegal cashing out of funds.
Otbasy Bank was set to decide on October 26, 2025, regarding the accessibility of pension funds for real estate transactions. However, no final decision has been made on the proposed boa.
MP Koshmambetov contends that honest citizens should not be restricted in using their private property. He believes authorities should prove guilt in suspected schemes before imposing restrictions.
Otbasy Bank has proposed a five-year boa on Kazakhstani citizens selling homes bought using their pension savings. MP Koshmambetov's stance highlights the ongoing debate around balancing protection against abuses and citizens' rights to manage their own funds.
