Kazakhstan Adopts New Constitution with Tokayev's Direct Leadership

Kazakhstan has adopted a new Constitution after an intensive drafting process. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev played a direct role in shaping the document, reviewing each chapter and submitting proposals. The final version includes key principles, such as the protection of the country's land and borders.

The Constitutional Commission carefully examined every article and norm during the drafting phase. Citizens also contributed, submitting around a thousand proposals for consideration. All suggestions were reviewed before the final text was approved.

One notable addition is the concept of *'Qazaqstan aumqtyq tūtastyǵy'*—the territorial integrity of Kazakhstan. Tokayev stressed the need to safeguard the nation's borders and land. He also suggested an alternative phrasing, *'jerdıñ tūtastyǵy'* (integrity of the land), for clarity in Kazakh. Tokayev remained actively involved throughout the process. He analysed each section of the Constitution and provided feedback to the Commission. His contributions helped shape the document's final form.

The new Constitution now enshrines the principle of territorial integrity as a core value. Tokayev's direct involvement ensured the text reflected both legal precision and public input. The finalised document will serve as the foundation for Kazakhstan's governance moving forward.
