Kazakhstan and Armenia forge strategic partnership to boost trade and ties
Kazakhstan and Armenia have elevated their relationship to a strategic partnership. The two nations recently held high-level talks aimed at deepening cooperation across multiple sectors. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the strong bond and mutual respect between the countries.
President Tokayev met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to set new goals for bilateral ties. Both leaders agreed to strengthen political collaboration, boost economic links, and expand cultural and academic exchanges. Humanitarian cooperation was also a key focus of their discussions.
The two sides committed to launching direct flights between Yerevan and Astana. They also pledged to implement existing strategic agreements more effectively. Trade expansion was a major topic, with Kazakhstan offering Armenian markets goods worth $350 million to increase mutual trade volumes.
Talks covered a wide range of sectors, including industry, transport, logistics, energy, agriculture, and digitalisation. Kazakhstan expressed support for Armenia's Crossroads of the World initiative, which aims to enhance transport and transit connections. Additionally, both nations agreed to share expertise in artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, and digital solutions.
President Tokayev praised the outcomes of the negotiations, particularly the focus on trade, investment, and economic growth. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to reinforcing ties with Armenia for shared benefit.
The agreements reached will see concrete steps to increase trade and diversify goods exchanged. Direct flights between the capitals are expected to improve connectivity and foster closer relations. Both nations now move forward with a strengthened partnership across economic, cultural, and technological fields.
