Kazakhstan and China deepen ties at Central Asia–China political dialogue in Qingdao
A high-level Kazakh delegation, led by Amanat party Secretary Erzhan Zhilkibayev, recently visited Qingdao, China, to participate in the 'Central Asia–China' Political Party Dialogue. The event provided an opportunity for representatives to explore cooperation and share experiences, with a focus on party-building, digitalization, and high-quality development.
The dialogue, themed 'Advancing Common Modernization Through High-Quality Development: Political Parties in Action', saw Zhilkibayev meet with Liu Jianchao, Head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) International Department. They discussed new partnership opportunities and strengthened interparty dialogue. The Kazakh delegation also included Madina Nurgaliyeva and Abylai Kumetuly.
In a separate meeting, Zhilkibayev discussed interparty cooperation and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit with a Politburo member of the CPC, though the specific name could not be confirmed. This meeting builds on a 2024 memorandum of exchange and cooperation signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev praised China as 'a neighbor entrusted to us by destiny, a close friend, and an eternal strategic partner'. Bilateral trade has surpassed $44 billion, with thousands of Chinese-invested enterprises thriving in Kazakhstan. The Kazakh delegation sought to learn from the CPC's practices in party-building, personnel training, and digitalization, aligning with Kazakhstan's own political reforms and digitalization priorities.
The 'Central Asia–China' Dialogue in Qingdao fostered mutual understanding and cooperation among leading parties of six nations. Kazakhstan, pursuing political reforms and digitalization, finds common ground with China's 'Digital China' and 'Beautiful China' initiatives. The meetings between Kazakh and Chinese officials underscore the commitment to strengthen ties and explore new partnership opportunities.
