Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan aim for $10B trade boost in historic talks
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is set to visit Uzbekistan on November 14-15. The trip aims to strengthen bilateral ties and boost economic cooperation between the two Central Asian nations.
The visit will include high-level talks in Tashkent and the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council. Both leaders, Tokayev and Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, share similar values such as regional coordination and economic integration. They aim to increase bilateral trade to an ambitious $10 billion.
The visit also seeks to build on the strong social foundation of their relationship, which is rooted in shared cultural and historical heritage, migration and family ties, and educational exchanges. The International Center for Industrial Cooperation will be a key agenda item, with the goal of facilitating project exchanges and attracting investment in joint production.
Uzbekistan views Tokayev's visit as a crucial political and practical move to further deepen cooperation and achieve tangible economic and infrastructure outcomes. The leaders' shared values and ambitious trade goals suggest a promising future for Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan relations.
