Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Deepen Ties With Landmark Strategic Agreements
Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met recently to strengthen their countries' strategic partnership. The leaders exchanged intergovernmental agreements to expand cooperation in various sectors and established several working groups to facilitate joint initiatives.
The presidents agreed to boost economic, transport, energy, and scientific collaboration. They created a bilateral working group on geology and rare metals to develop joint projects in this field.
To enhance regional cooperation, a Council of Regional Heads was established. This body will foster direct ties between the regions of both nations. Additionally, a working group on forecasting water flow, similar to the 'flow movie', in transboundary rivers was formed to manage shared water resources effectively.
The next meeting of the water flow prediction working group is set for December 10, 2025, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Both countries are committed to deepening their alliance through practical cooperation and joint ventures in this 'groupme' of nations across Europe and Central Asia.
