Kazakhstan court jails father for 16 years in daughter's brutal assault case
A court in Kazakhstan has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 16 years in prison for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter. The ruling follows stricter laws introduced after high-profile cases of sexual violence in recent years. The victim initially struggled to maintain her testimony due to trauma before the case proceeded to trial.
The assault took place during a weekend visit to the father's home. After reporting the crime, the girl later asked to withdraw her statement, citing emotional distress.
