Kazakhstan Halts Fresh Egg Imports for One Month to Boost Local Farmers

Kazakhstan has introduced a temporary ban on fresh chicken egg imports starting December 11, 2025. The measure, announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, will last for one months and targets shipments from all third countries and fellow EAEU member states.

The restriction was formalised under Order No. 447, signed by the Kazakh Minister of Agriculture on December 5, 2025. Its stated purpose is to bolster domestic egg producers by limiting foreign competition.

The one-months import freeze comes into force on December 11, 2025. It marks a short-term shift in trade policy aimed at supporting Kazakhstan’s own egg production sector. The government has not indicated whether the ban will be extended beyond the initial period.
