Kazakhstan invites Palestinian leader in historic diplomatic push for statehood

Kazakhstan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Palestine. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended an official invitation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for a state visit. The move underscores the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Palestine have been built on mutual respect and cooperation since their establishment. Both countries describe their bond as brotherly, marked by consistent support in international forums. Kazakhstan has repeatedly backed initiatives to recognize Palestine as a full member of the global community.

The Central Asian nation advocates for a peaceful resolution to the Middle East conflict. Its position aligns with the 'two states for two peoples' principle, promoting the creation of an independent Palestinian state. Palestinian officials have expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s steadfast solidarity with their aspirations for peace and prosperity.

While no previous official visits by a Palestinian president to Kazakhstan have been recorded, Abbas has engaged in high-level meetings with other world leaders. Recent discussions include talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and Pope Leo XIV.

The invitation to Abbas highlights Kazakhstan’s active role in supporting Palestinian statehood. It also reinforces the two countries’ shared commitment to diplomacy and mutual cooperation. The visit, if realized, would mark a significant step in their bilateral relationship.
