Kazakhstan moves to reform NGO laws after presidential directive

A working group in Kazakhstan recently met to refine the country’s law on non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The session followed a directive from the head of state aimed at improving legislation in this area. Participants reviewed a draft document designed to address key challenges faced by NGOs across the nation.

The group focused on a consultative document on regulatory policy (CDRP), prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Information. This draft outlined major issues affecting NGOs and put forward potential solutions for discussion.

The working group’s suggestions will now be considered for inclusion in the updated law. If adopted, the changes could give NGOs a greater voice in shaping regulations that affect them. The next steps in the legislative process remain to be announced.
