Kazakhstan's 2026 social aid expansion helps 163,000 citizens in need

Kazakhstan's targeted social assistance programme has expanded its reach in 2026, offering financial aid to low-income families. Since the start of the year, over 163,000 citizens from 30,300 households have received support. The initiative also includes extra payments for young children and employment schemes for working-age adults.

The programme provides quarterly cash payments to those earning below the poverty line. By March 1, 2026, an additional 50,100 preschool-aged children received assistance, with 618.1 million tenge set aside for this group. Each eligible child aged one to six now gets monthly supplements worth 1.5 times the monthly calculation index (MRP).

Employment support is also available, including business start-up grants and vocational training. Families can apply for aid through career centres, local rural district offices, or the e-government portal egov.kz. A total of 5.2 billion tenge has already been distributed this year, with 62.7 billion tenge budgeted for 2026. The scheme aims to ease financial hardship while encouraging job opportunities for able-bodied recipients.

The expanded programme has already assisted tens of thousands of families across Kazakhstan. With billions allocated for 2026, officials plan to continue supporting vulnerable groups through direct payments and employment initiatives. Applications remain open through multiple channels for those in need.
