Kazakhstan’s German minority elects new leaders at historic conference
The German minority in Kazakhstan remains one of the largest and most well-integrated communities in post-Soviet states. Recently, the National Conference of Delegates gathered to elect new representatives and set priorities for the future. Meanwhile, German officials have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting ethnic Germans abroad, despite broader policy shifts in migration and asylum.
The National Conference of Delegates of Germans in Kazakhstan held its latest session to democratically choose leaders and discuss key objectives. This community, the second-largest German minority in Central and Eastern Europe, maintains strong visibility, with members serving in Kazakhstan’s Senate and Mazhilis.
The German community in Kazakhstan remains active and well-represented in political and social spheres. With ongoing support from German officials, its organisations will continue to shape cultural and political engagement. The upcoming commission meeting will further clarify cooperation between the two nations on minority issues.
