Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev to Strengthen Ties in Historic Japan Visit
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will visit Japan from December 18 to 20, 2025. The trip marks an official state visit, featuring high-level meetings and a regional summit. It will be his first visit since Japan elected its first female Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, in October 2025.
Tokayev’s schedule includes a meeting with Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace. The two leaders will discuss bilateral relations and cultural ties during their private audience.
The visit will conclude with agreements aimed at deepening ties between Kazakhstan and Japan. Tokayev’s discussions with political and business leaders are expected to result in new economic and diplomatic initiatives. The trip follows Japan’s recent change in leadership under Prime Minister Takaichi.
