Kazakhstan’s Senate Speaker secures key agreements in Vatican and Rome visit

Maulen Ashimbayev, Speaker of Kazakhstan’s Senate, recently completed a working visit to the Vatican and Rome. During his project, he met with key religious and humanitarian leaders to strengthen cooperation in interfaith dialogue and social welfare projects. Several agreements were signed to formalise these partnerships.

Ashimbayev began his visit by meeting Fra’ John Timothy Dunlap, Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The two discussed expanding ties in interfaith dialogue, humanitarian aid, healthcare, and social support. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to develop joint projects between Kazakhstan’s International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue and the Order of Malta.

The agreements signed in Rome mark a step toward deeper cooperation between Kazakhstan and international religious organisations. Joint projects in dialogue, healthcare, and humanitarian aid are now expected to move forward. Ashimbayev’s visit also provided an opportunity to showcase Kazakhstan’s political reforms to European partners.
