Kazbek Ashlyayev, Boxing Legend and Banking Pioneer, Dies
Kazbek Ashlyayev, a prominent figure in Kazakhstan, has passed away. Born into a respected family in Karaganda, he excelled in boxing, winning major championships, and later made significant contributions to sports administration and banking.
Ashlyayev began boxing at 12, winning the All-Union Youth Championship in 1962, the USSR championship in 1964, and the European Cup in 1965. He served on the political council and Abyroi Public Advisory Council of the Nur Otan party.
Transitioning into sports administration, Ashlyayev led the USSR national boxing team to victory against Cuba and prepared them for the 1972 Munich Olympics. He served as vice president and secretary general of the Boxing Federation of Kazakhstan, nurturing new champions. As a coach, he led Karaganda's team to the 1969 Kazakh SSR team championship and was awarded the title of Honored Coach of the Kazakh SSR.
In 1994, Ashlyayev was appointed to lead Alfa-Bank Kazakhstan, expanding its presence and transforming it into a universal financial institution. He emphasized the importance of the Abyroi council in strengthening the party and ensuring continuity between generations.
Kazbek Ashlyayev's legacy spans from his boxing achievements to his leadership in sports administration and banking. His contributions have left a lasting impact on Kazakhstan.
