Kelowna Taxi Driver Stabbed in Violent Fare Dispute Attack
A 24-year-old man has been charged following a violent knife attack on a taxi driver in Kelowna
The attack took place on September 2, 2025, during a payment dispute. Jarmanpreet Singh, the cab driver, was allegedly stabbed and slashed on only his second day on the job. He suffered wounds to his hands and leg but has since recovered and returned to work.
On March 6, 2026, Gould was formally charged in connection with the assault. Despite having no prior criminal record before the Kelowna incident, court documents now show over a dozen separate convictions against him. A judge denied bail, and Gould remains in custody pending his next court appearance on March 31, 2026. The case has drawn attention due to the severity of the attack and the accused's sudden criminal history. Singh's injuries required extensive medical treatment, though he has since resumed driving.
Gould will stay in custody until his next hearing in late March. The charges stem from a dispute that escalated into a brutal assault, leaving the victim with lasting physical harm. The outcome of the trial will determine whether further penalties are imposed.
