Kenyan activists freed after Uganda abduction through diplomatic efforts
Two Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, have returned home after being allegedly abducted in Uganda. Their release follows diplomatic efforts between Kenya and Uganda, with officials coordinating their safe handover at Busia Central Police Station. Meanwhile, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi addressed separate cases involving Kenyan citizens detained in Tanzania, stressing the importance of diplomatic solutions.
Activists Njagi and Oyoo were safely returned to Kenya after their reported abduction in Uganda. The Kenyan ambassador to Uganda played a central role in negotiations, ensuring their transfer to Kenyan authorities. Mudavadi thanked those involved but urged the public to focus on the activists’ recovery rather than political debates.
The safe return of the activists and detained Kenyans highlights the effectiveness of diplomatic cooperation. Mudavadi reiterated that such matters should remain free from politicisation, with the priority being the well-being of those affected. The government’s stance underscores its commitment to regional stability and legal procedures.
