Kenya's 'Silicon Savannah' Takes Shape with New Tech Innovation Hub
Kenya's ambition to become a leading technology hub in Africa is taking shape with the development of the African Center for Technology Studies (ACTS) Complex. Located within the planned Konza Technopolis—dubbed Kenya's 'Silicon Savannah'—the project marks a key step in boosting innovation and research in the region.
The ACTS Complex is being built about 60 kilometres southeast of Nairobi, along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa corridor. Construction of Phase One is set to finish within 45 weeks, paving the way for the centre's official launch.
Once complete, the facility will offer advanced resources for knowledge creation, experimentation, and scaling up new solutions. It is designed to act as a central hub for research and development, bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers. The project aligns with Konza Technopolis' broader vision of transforming Kenya into a major technology and innovation centre. By strengthening local capabilities, the initiative aims to position the country as a leader in Africa's growing tech sector.
The completion of Phase One will enable the ACTS Complex to begin operations. The centre is expected to drive collaboration and accelerate technological advancements in Kenya. Its role in supporting the country's 'Silicon Savannah' vision will be closely watched as the project progresses.
