Kenzingen proposes steep fee hikes for cemeteries and hall rentals
Kenzingen town council will vote on new fee increases for municipal services on March 19. The proposed changes will affect hall rentals, cemetery services, and adult sports activities. Some costs have not been updated since 2013 and 2019.
The most significant changes target cemetery fees. Burial costs for individuals aged ten and older will climb from €805 to €1,050. A 25-year lease for a row grave will jump from €1,835 to €3,100. Officials state the adjustments reflect actual expenses, as maintaining a row grave currently costs around €1,200 per year.
Rental prices for the Üsenberghalle's gym and event hall will also rise sharply. Meanwhile, adult sports activities will now carry a €3 hourly charge. However, children's and youth sports programmes will stay free of charge.
The fee updates aim to cover rising operational costs more accurately. If approved, the changes will mark the first adjustments to hall and cemetery pricing in over a decade. Residents and service users will see the new rates take effect later this year.
