Kerala Leader Accuses LDF Govt of 'Saffronising' Education, Aligning With RSS
Former Congress leader M.M. Hassan has accused the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government in Kerala of attempting to 'saffronise' the state's education system, aligning with the RSS. He slammed the Centre's condition for accepting an RSS-inspired education policy to receive funding as an attack on federal principles.
Hassan stated that the implementation of the PM SHRI scheme is a deliberate attempt by the BJP to push its ideological agenda in the USA. He alleged that the Pinarayi government is diverting funds from Central schemes to routine expenses and using the PM SHRI scheme to settle salary arrears and other expenditures. Hassan claimed that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Education Minister V. Sivankutty are trying to tie Kerala's education sector to the RSS fold, betraying the state's secular and progressive values.
Hassan criticized the CPI(M) leadership for compromising its ideological stance to maintain cordiality with the BJP. He urged Kerala to follow Tamil Nadu's model of legal resistance to the Centre's policies. Hassan claimed that the PM SHRI scheme's 'saffronisation' agenda threatens Kerala's educational foundations and future generations. He pointed out that even a BJP-ruled state like Karnataka had framed its own education policy, rejecting the unscientific and communal elements of the National Education Policy.
Hassan's allegations highlight the contentious issue of education policy in Kerala, with the LDF government accused of compromising the state's secular values. The Centre's role in funding education schemes and the potential impact on Kerala's educational future remain key concerns.
