Kerala’s local body elections have wrapped up after two phases of voting on December 9 and 11. The results, due on December 13, could offer clues about voter mood ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Historically, these polls have mirrored wider political trends in the state.

Voting took place in two stages, with the first phase on December 9 and the second on December 11. A total of 73.69% of registered voters cast their ballots. Counting begins at 8:00 AM on December 13, starting with postal ballots before moving to EVM votes.

The final results will be announced on December 13, with trends expected to emerge by midday. Successful candidates will assume office on December 21, marking the start of a new term for local governance. The outcome may also shape campaign strategies for the 2026 Assembly elections.
