Khabarovsk Governor Demands Fix for 48 Idle Buses After Transport Chaos
Khabarovsk Krai Governor Dmitry Demeshin has intervened after a series of failures in the region’s bus services. An inspection revealed that 48 newly purchased buses, costing 700 million rubles, were poorly managed—leaving many unused and passengers stranded. The governor has now demanded immediate action to restore proper operations.
The problems began after 48 new buses were introduced in early 2024 to serve intermunicipal routes 1 to 16. By October, only 17 were running as planned. Another 13 had been reassigned, four were out of service, and 14 remained idle since their arrival.
The governor’s intervention aims to restore full bus operations across Khabarovsk Krai. Officials now face stricter oversight, and the dismissed transport chief will not be the last held accountable. The region expects all 48 buses to resume service, addressing months of disruption for commuters.
