Kim Jong Un Opens Luxury Tourist Hotels Near China Border with Daughter
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has opened five new hotels in the Samjiyon tourist zone near the Chinese border. The event marks another step in the country’s push to expand its tourism sector. His daughter, Kim Ju Ae, accompanied him during the ceremonies.
The newly inaugurated hotels—Ikal, Milyong, Sobaeksu, Chongbong, and Potnamu—were unveiled in a high-profile ceremony. Kim inspected each facility, reviewing guest rooms, dining areas, recreational spaces, and spa complexes. He stressed the need for high standards in service and thorough staff training to ensure tourism development succeeds.
The opening forms part of a series of year-end activities in North Korea. Kim described the hotels as proof of the nation’s economic progress. His remarks came as the WPK Politburo continues planning for the next party congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The launch of the five hotels highlights North Korea’s focus on boosting tourism infrastructure. Kim’s presence, along with his daughter, underscores the event’s significance. The facilities are now operational, with staff expected to follow the leader’s emphasis on quality and professionalism.
