Kitchen fire in Euskirchen sends six residents to hospital after oil ignites

A fire broke out in a residential building on Kölner Straße in Euskirchen on Thursday afternoon, November 13, at around 3:15 p.m. The blaze started in the kitchen of a first-floor apartment, causing significant damage to the stovetop and range hood. All six residents, including a 51-year-old woman who caused the fire, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The fire began when the 51-year-old woman heated oil in a pan, which ignited. She tried to put out the flames herself, but they spread quickly. Firefighters arrived to find the building evacuated and successfully extinguished the blaze. The extent of property damage is still being assessed. All residents, aged 51, 11, 16, 26, 23, and 26, were present in the apartment at the time of the fire and were taken to hospital by ambulance due to suspected smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire has been determined, and the investigation is ongoing. The affected residents are receiving medical attention, and the property damage is being evaluated. The name of the 51-year-old woman responsible for the fire remains undisclosed.
