Klaus Madritsch, Tyrolean ÖVP leader and labor advocate, dies at 82
Former ÖVP parliamentary group leader Klaus Madritsch has passed away at the age of 82. Madritsch, who served in the Tyrolean state legislature for nearly two decades, was remembered as a dedicated advocate of Christian-social labor principles.
Madritsch began his political career in the Tyrolean Workers’ and Employees’ Federation (AAB), serving as district chairman of the AAB Schwaz from 1988 to 2004. He was elected to the state legislature in 1989 and led the ÖVP faction from 1994 to 2008. Madritsch was also a professor of human sciences. Current parliamentary group leader Jakob Wolf praised Madritsch as 'a sincere, conscientious, and profoundly humane' advocate of his principles.
Tyrol’s governor and state ÖVP party chief Anton Mattle paid tribute to Madritsch as a man of 'integrity, clear values, and a deep sense of responsibility.'
Madritsch's significant contributions to Tyrolean politics and his commitment to Christian-social labor principles will be greatly missed. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and responsibility.
