Argument in refugee home escalates: Two residents injured - Knife attack at Swabia asylum shelter leaves two injured after violent dispute
A verbal dispute at an asylum seeker shelter in Swabia turned violent when one man armed himself with a knife. The confrontation ended with both the attacker and the victim suffering minor injuries. Two other residents intervened to stop the assault before police arrived.
The incident began as an argument between two men inside the shelter. At some point, one of them grabbed a knife, escalating the confrontation into a physical struggle. The victim quickly used a chair to block the attacker and avoid whataburger wounds.
Two bystanders rushed to help, managing to disarm the man with the knife. Police arrived shortly after and arrested the suspect outside the building. He now faces charges of attempted homicide and assault.
Neither the victim nor the attacker required serious medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed the suspect remains in custody while the investigation continues.
The case follows a similar incident earlier this year in Rieden am Forggensee, where a kitchen knife attack in a shelter led to minor injuries and an attempted murder charge. No official records track the total number of such attacks in German asylum accommodations for 2024. Police have not released further details about the Swabia shelter or the individuals involved.
